Gas Prices are Rising in Texas as Memorial Day approaches
SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) – The average gas price in Texas continues to rise sharply across the state.
At Lone Star Estate, drivers see an average price of 7 2.76 for a gallon of regular unloaded.
Sure, it’s only a penny last week, but it’s 18 1.18 more than we were paying a year ago.
Taxis are still seeing the fourth lowest price of gas in the country.
The nationwide average is $ 3.04. Daniel Armbuster of AAA Texas says the rapid pace of growth has been attributed to a sharp rise in fuel demand as more people return to work and prepare for Memorial Day road trips.
The auto club predicts that about 33 million Texans will hit the road next weekend.
AAA Texas spokesman Daniel Armbuster said the AAA predicts a 60 percent increase in the number of Texas who will travel on the weekend of Memorial Day holiday.
The majority of passengers are 50 miles or more from home.
The distance will drive, which is why the demand for petrol will be much higher than what we have seen in the last one year.
The average gas price in San Antonio has risen two cents in the past week to 2.68$
